FOLLOW THESE SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS
Updated: January 14th 2010

Download the New Kbox File for your Heros PLUS, Prodigy or HD Receiver...

  • Download the latest .kbx file (Compressed .zip files) for your model K-Box receiver.
  • Extract the contents of the .zip file for your model
  • Copy the .kbx file for your model to your USB memory stick.

Connect your Khub or Khub V2 to your K-Box FTA Receiver

  • Make sure your K1 Heros Plus or K1 Prodigy FTA Receiver is turned off.
  • If you have the original grey Khub model, it must be plugged into the serial port using the Grey Cable for the K1 Heros Plus, Black cable for the K1 Prodigy.
  • If you have the new V2 it will get the power from the receiver, and you do not need to connect any cables in between.
  • Connect your Khub to your local network using a Cat 5 Ethernet cable.
  • You should of course have your RG6 coax from your LNB's or Switch hooked up by now as well.
  • Finally, connect your fully loaded USB Memory stick that you safely removed from your PC to your Kbox FTA receiver's front USB port.

Install the necessary files and get the show on the road!

  • When you power up the box, you will get a screen showing the .kbx files on your USB memory stick.
  • If you are using an older factory boot, you will only see the .kbx file at this point. Once you load that the box will reboot on its own and it will come up again and show the now defunct and no longer necessary .rom files as well.
  • From the list of files select the most current .kbx by scrolling down to it and pushing the OK button. Do not do anything while the system downloads and installs the file. When it is complete reboot your Kbox receiver.
  • When you reboot from now on, original grey khub users need to power down both the box and the khub and then power them back on khub then receiver. Khub V2 users can simply power down/up with the rear switch
  • When you are ready for the magic to happen, you will need to go into the Main Manu > Configuration > Network Settings. Let it work on DHCP to see if it connects. If it does not, you may need to manually setup your network information. If you do not know how to do this, read. We unfortunately cannot provide support for each individual network setup. If you have DHCP enabled on your router but it does not appear to be working, reboot the box again and try again.
  • If you haven't already scanned your channels in, now would be a good time to do it.
  • With your channels scanned and your network configuration correct, you are ready to start watching some channels!
  • Go to Menu -> Installation -> Option and Set Echostar AU and Bev AU to OFF and MODE to Network. Hit Exit 3 times and start watching TV!

* If you See "Connecting Please Wait" for more than a few minutes, reset the Kbox and Khub power. If this continues, you are viewing a channel this is not activated, the server may be down AND/OR your network is not configured properly to permit communications between your Khub and the Kbox IKS server.

If you have any problems, you may wish to do a factory reset, load the posted manufacturer factory file, reload the latest .kbx file and rescan your satellites. A fresh setup for the box sometimes can do wonders.

Remeber that when testing your Kbox you always have help available if you need it. If you have difficulty, your best bet is to try to get some help from others.
